Background: A Native American leadership summit held in Norman, Oklahoma at the University of Oklahoma in June of 1981. The summit sought to bring about the rise in indigenous Christian leaders and churches as well as to protest mandatory government teachings in schools such as Columbus Day. One quote from the event rings true: "How can you discover a place if people are already living here?"
