Res Ipsa Varsity Jacket
Description: Our one-of-kind varsity jackets are inspired by vintage varsity sweaters and jackets dating back to the 1860's at Harvard University. The varsity style pullover sweater led the way and featured a chenille "H" patch on the front breast. The varsity jacket took on its current form with a wool base, leather sleeves, and chenille lettering around the 1930's. Varsity sweaters and jackets have endured ever since and are popularized as a modern style in America and abroad.
Our jackets are handmade in the US and feature our custom chenille patches, including our "LOVE" and "GOAT" patches on the back. Res Ipsa was founded in 2013 by two lawyers, Josh & Odini. Hence, our "13" patch to go along with our original "Res Ipsa" patch.
Originally, the Res Ipsa was focused on neckwear. We could not find the kind of ties we wanted to wear to our law jobs, so we decided to make our own. We traveled the world sourcing the best fabrics--tartans from Scotland, wool challis from England, and grenadines from Italy--and made them by hand in New York. The more we traveled, the more we realized the dull uniformity of professional dress made us hunger for something unique. Because of our love for travel and sustainability, the brand quickly evolved to focus on globally-designed one-of-a-kind products made from vintage and repurposed materials.
Each jacket is one-of-a-kind. Sizing is unisex and runs true to size. Sizing M-XL.
